Flitting fairies, Flying super-heroes and a Choo-Choo!

Alona was super Alona! Grandma Wood made her a cape especially for her with an A on the back of it. Abbi was a fairy, used her sister's ballet costume. And Kacen was Thomas the Tank Engine. Kacen loves trains!
Paul's work Halloween party was real nice. Kind of like when you go to Wal-Mart, for your one stop shopping. You could go to his work and be done with trick or treating. Their baskets/bags were full to the brim. We came home and I had a brief rest, about ten minutes ... I really needed a nap(am very tired lately) but got up and went straight to the neighbors for their little party. It gave my children all a chance to play with other children and gave Daddy time to start his home work. We came home and had hot dogs and fresh veggies that we had brought home from Paul's work. We weren't quite ready in time to make it to the down town festivities so to not stress ourselves out, stress myself out, we just started walking around the block and went from there deciding where we would go. We went to 1000 East, the street behind us and there were many more lights on this year! Even some of the houses that had their lights out were handing out candy, I think one of them had a broken light. And then some houses had their lights on and a sign on their door that said they were not giving out candy. Alona, midway through trick or treating said Mom when I see the doors with the signs on them I know that they are not giving out candy. Abbi had a lot of fun running up to the houses ahead of us and getting to the doors first. "Mom, I want to say trick or treat!" She enjoyed knocking and talking to the people opening the doors to her. At our very last house that we went to she really flitted up their side walk, looked just like a real fairy would.
Alona first took her scooter trick or treating , her cape flapping in the wind as she soared on her scooter. Alona's boots started getting to her and she rode in the stroller while Mommy carried Kacen for a while. Alona has always done real well with her candy consumption, ever since she was really little she wouldn't eat too much because she knew that it would make her sick. She has always been smart and practical.
Kacen kept his hat on most of the time. He was a real good sport, Thomas' face bothered him, especially when he would sit down and he would ask us to take it off. We went to the apartments that were behind the stake center, Kacen says " Mom I'm a Choo-Choo!" In almost every bowl he would pick out the sucker that was there, he had one in each hand and held on to them for the longest time. I would have to trade him so that he would pick a new treat. Kacen's bag was getting heavy and I asked him if I could hold it for him, "No." We would occasionally go up to some one new and ask Kacen if he wanted a piece of candy, "No." he would say as he looked at each hand that all ready had a candy in it. I asked him, Can I get a candy for you, "No". I put one in there for him any way. He did a great job walking from the stroller or from mom to the door and helping to knock. I caught on video all of them saying, "Happy Halloween."
And in the last picture, can you tell how sleepy everyone is? All tired out from trick or treating!

Hee Haw

We went to Hee Haw farms last night, I was under the impression that their children's activities were open at night and so we went. The rides weren't open or the pumpkin patch, but right in front of this make shift barn was a wagon. So I figured that I would give them a ride in it and took them around to the back. There I saw a big trailer full of pumpkins. Jackpot! Just what we went there for. So I piled in the best pumpkins that I could find in the wagon with my children and took them out to the van in the wagon. Alona, my big helper pushed the stroller while I gave the younger ones a ride.
There were a few activities that the children were able to enjoy. Alona went on the bumpy slide that they had and did the corn cannon she also enjoyed jumping on a bunch of hay and going through a mini maze. The slide looked like it was made of a bunch of big rollers. Abbi got covered in corn in their "corn box", such a good sport. She had corn down her jacket and in her shoe. Kacen was just happy being with mommy and cried when I put his cute face in the hole to take a picture as a horse.
Tonight we will decorate our pumpkins. I invited our old home teachers to come and join in the fun since Paul had to work his only night off last night because he was sick on Monday. So thankful for them, I know that they will make it so much more enjoyable to decorate pumpkins with my children. Oh my word, I really need to find my camera. My phone was not meant for taking pictures, especially in the dark.

On to brighter things

Alona tells her OWN jokes now...

Why did the monkey cross the monkey bars?
(answer will be at end of post)

We went to Maceys and got free donuts.
I, for some strange reason am craving protein while pregnant with this child. My "normal" delicious vegetables that I love don't sound so nummy any more. My Chinese that I love so much makes me want to puke just thinking about it. I was gone during dinner prep hours, waiting for Paul at instacare and then getting his medicine. I made the kids quesidillas when I got home, but that sounded repulsive to me, so after they were asleep I went to wendy's! I got more than I could eat but ate half of a thing of chili and a grilled chicken, mmm. Even though Paul was sick, I was glad that he was home so that I could go get something that was appeasing to me.
The girls help fold laundry, the other day they both helped. It went by so fast! I love my little girls. They have been helping mommy fold clothes since they were two and are so good at it. No need to unfold and re-fold their clothes they're awesome!
Abbi learned how to spell her name today! We have been going over it for forever, and in the car before we were leaving instacare, she says, "Mommy, I know how to spell my name." "A-b-b-i, A-b-b-i, Abbi!" I'm so proud of her!

Kacen put on his own shoes today, for the first time! I was getting dressed and had gotten Kacen dressed first, all except for the shoes. I came out and he had put his sandals on his feet!

When I was terribly sick last Thursday, our home teacher called, knew that I was sick and brought dinner by. What a blessing to finally have people around me showing that they care and helping when they are truly needed.
I have a wonderful neighbor who is cleaning out her baby things and said that I could come and look through her things. So wonderful to have her as a neighbor.
When I was really feeling down today, I was able to talk to Marta. She wasn't feeling well and had a sore throat. So thankful for computers for that reason, I was able to get her care and insight through her written word. Thank you for being so wonderful.
answer to the joke:
to get to the other slide!

Yes we were trying

Instead of being really excited we had two relatives who asked us if we were trying to have another one and one relative who gave kind of a cold answer that really put me off. To answer their questions, yes we were trying to have another one. We purposely got off of birth control, we know what happens when you do that! And we are very excited for our new baby. I wanted a baby in warmer weather, and am ecstatic that we are due June 25! I personally think its a great month, we have no brothers or parents born in this month, no sisters on my side or Paul's dads side, just Isabella. I love children and though I can not afford great things for them, we do fun things, I teach them all that I can and enjoy them to the fullest. No matter if it is a first baby or a last it is great to have support and enthusiasm when someone is expecting. Even if you're not happy that we are having another baby, maybe you could be happy because we are, be happy for us, or at least give kind remarks. Because well, my hormones are out of whack, and even if they weren't... I would hope that you wold still realize that other people have feelings too.

He's a Big BOY Now!

Kacen turned two on Wednesday. He helped me make his birthday cake. I had the batter in the bowl all mixed and he wanted to help, so he poured the batter in to the pan and then wanted the bowl, he wanted to "eat it". So I gave him the ladle and the bowl and at first he ate all that he could with that thing and then he wasn't able to scoop any more out and so he put his mouth in the bowl, but couldn't get it in far enough. So there his whole head went, I only had my phone at the time, so the pictures are blurry, but cute little boy.
After picking Alona up from school we went to Kiddie Kandids to take his free one year picture. We were there about ten minutes late and so the lady that had an appointment 15 minutes after me got to go, which okay, fine. But then the lady that was finished decides to gal-avant around the portrait studio like she had nothing better to do. Meanwhile I was running around chasing my newly discovered 2 year old. He managed to get in to the jewelry store next to kiddie kandids and pick up one of their chocolate covered apples and put it in his mouth. He decided that the taste of it wasn't to his liking and spat it out all over their floor and all over his shirt. So I picked up the pieces off of the floor and decided that his shirt was unsalvageable, so I ran over to gymboree and got the best and cheapest one that I could find and then went back to kiddie kandids. The lady's response when I commented that she had been doing nothing for ten minutes and not helping me, " I didn't know you were ready!" Oh my word! I told her about all the chasing around I was doing with my little boy and the things that he had gotten in to and well, that lady choose to stay away from me and I saw the other photographer. While I had went to chase Kacen, I came back to found an Abbi in tears, she didn't know where I had gone while chasing Kacen in to the jewelry store, I bribed her in to feeling better with more candy from the jewelry store!
We went to kangaroo zoo in Pleasant Grove, and was so glad that our one guest Grandma Wood came and enjoyed the zoo with us. They had a lot of fun. Kacen isn't quite big enough to climb up the big slides, so he had to be carried by dad or by mom. He had a lot of fun running off and being chased by daddy! After Kangaroo Zoo we found the nearest little Ceasars, got pizza and ate on a spot of grass across the street.
Kacen's first reaction to his cake was to take out his candle and eat the frosting off of the bottom and then stick it back in to the cake. He also decided that it would be more fun to eat out of the cake pan than off of his own plate. Papa called at just the right time, we were getting ready to sing Happy Birthday when he called and then he sang it to him on the phone with us. He opened the presents that he got, a Thomas the train set from his Mom and Dad and a basketball hoop and basketball from Grandma and Papa. We also got him motorcycles from grandma Caren and Aunt Crystal gave him a kickball when she saw him last Saturday.
We came home and Kacen played trains with Daddy and Abbi until it was bath and bed time. It was an overall good day!

maybe this is a little too much info...

I am a little cautious having this out there for whomever to see. Thats why I did it the way I did a little over a week ago, emailing the people that commented on my blog about the news. Glad to see there was a warmer reaction than I received from quite a few family members. There is so much that can happen in the first trimester and I am just treading through the first half of it. There are things in this pregnancy that are different than my other three, bleeding once, and pain in my lower abdomen occasionally (once when I sneezed this past week). Maybe it is the fact that I have been around so many pregnant women in the past two years and in the past few months there have been quite a few miscarriages that I have known about. Four actually and probably some that people haven't disclosed to the likes of me. Right now I am sick too, I have a head cold along with being nauseous and throwing up, hopefully only first trimester symptoms. Lets just say that I seriously can not wait until my first appointment on November 12th (at about 8 weeks) to reassure me that the baby inside of me is there, growing and healthy.

I worry a lot too, not just while pregnant, about being prepared, having everything that I need and worry about being without(have had that a few times in my life). So with being pregnant its about the baby and the baby stuff. With the past three babies the high chair that we had got torn up and our stroller got broken, socks get lost and toys grow things on them, each baby goes through a lot of diapers and well there are just some things that I never had with babies that would be fun. So I went ahead and bought the stroller as said in previous post, a changing table and shelves and have put the rest of the things on the babiesrus registry to calm myself from buying anything more. Because well, I have a more than seven months to go need a lot more time to save for things. I will buy more as time goes by and delete them off the list, so I thought that I would put it out there, if anyone wants to check it out you can.

We sold our van!

Our 1993 Plymouth Grand Voyager was sold on Friday! We had three calls, two of them show up and the second one bought it on the spot. They were just happy that it was a vehicle that ran! I told them about how it died, they just asked if it started up again after it died and were pleased that it did. They didn't seem phased at all when I told them about it needing new wiring and a new hub. I felt proud of myself I remembered to fill out the title, give them the bill of sale and clean out the van. But then of course after Paul gets home he helps me to realize the things that I have forgotten. I ended up not taking our license plates off of the vehicle and leaving some of our things in the pull out drawer under the front passenger seat. I got a hold of them yesterday and she didn't seem all too interested in bringing our things back and coming to get the extra key from us that Paul had had while they were purchasing the vehicle, they seemed real busy. I hope for our sanity that they bring the things back. There is an uneasy feeling knowing that if they get pulled over with our plates still on the vehicle that we would be liable.
It was so nice that we sold the van. I was able to purchase gas to go to Alona's last soccer game. We will be able to pay the ticket that Paul got, he was driving to work and his speedometer said that he was going 40 while passing someone where the speed limit was 35 and a police officer pulled him over saying that he was going 54. We both think the officers radar gun was broken, but of course can't prove it so we will be paying the 85 dollar ticket. On Saturday night I found a changing table and a shelf for really cheap and went to get them first thing this morning. It will be a welcome change having one place for everything to change the children who aren't potty trained yet! The shelf looks like it is only made of plywood, but it is nice to have all that vertical space to put the bigger toys. I was able put money toward Christmas, I bought Paul two gifts and he got the same amount to get me something. While at target getting gifts I found Kacen a spiderman bat and ball and a football and then a tonka fire truck at Wal-mart while grocery shopping. I also found a wagon with alphabet blocks and a opposites matching game on craigslist and went to pick them up, the first will be for Kacen for Christmas and the second for Abbi. We will be able to get some car parts, an air filter oil and oil filter. Before going out the door to go grocery shopping I looked on craigslist and found a double jogging stroller for thirty five dollars. I went there first, it was really nice, just had some trouble folding down. These babies retail for 200 to 300 dollars and usually sell for half that used. I was ecstatic, I get there and after looking at it go to pay her and neither of us have the exact change so I ended up getting it for 30 dollars! What a deal!

one of the most irritating questions

So in the past few weeks I have been asked by two relatives and by one ward member...
"So, What do YOU do all day?"
I truly wanted to start screaming at them, I held my cool and with the member of our ward that postulated this question I calmly answered: Well about every week I have a truckload of laundry, a few sink-fulls of dishes every day, I canned salsa and spaghetti sauce this past week.

So that was what I told him and then talking with Paul last night, I was questioning, Do you think I do nothing all day? And then I gave him a rundown of the days events, I woke up fed our children and got them dressed and got Alona out the door for school, then I Got Kacen and Abbi in the van and took them to story time at the library where I sat with Kacen and participated in the hand motions for all of the songs that they did. I brought them home and helped Abbi learn to draw a picture of herself on the paper that they gave her at the library, we then rushed out the door to pick up Alex and Alona from school, and Alex wanted to stay and play and so my children wanted to stay and play at the school play ground while I am sitting there trying to convince them to leave and all the while being very nauseous. We finally get home, have lunch and girls cleaned their room while I did the dishes. We then read books for forty minutes and then they watched a cartoon while I was on the phone trying to make an appointment, sitting on hold for forever and then we went for a walk and ended up at the neighbors and played. We rushed home and went with Paul in the van , had dinner, went up to Sundance to see the pretty leaves, rushed down to see our home teachers. We then put our children to bed after they left and I stayed up until midnight folding clothes. And yes, I do different things everyday, but how could someone ask me, "So, what do YOU do all day?" frustrating, and not good for my self esteem.

Saturday

We got a new van a 2001 Toyota Sienna. It runs so much better, doesn't vibrate! It doesn't kill while driving or have the RPM's drop out on the freeway and hiccup, woohoo! Speakers work and the air conditioning. It has volume and radio station controls on the steering wheel!

We went to Alona's soccer game in the freezing cold, had lunch with Grandpa while Paul played games with uncle Jared. After picking him up, having dinner and playing a bit left and stopped Gardner Village on the way home. There were a ton of witches to look at. One stuck to the side of a building, one in an out-house, one brewing at a cauldron, dancing, flying, playing baseball, hula hooping, driving a team of ghosts in a covered wagon. I liked some of the sayings that they had, "Just us girls", "Will cast spells for chocolate", "you call me a witch like its a bad thing." The girls were real troopers, their mother doesn't whine or complain about the cold, their daddy wanted to go to the car and they stayed with mommy and finished looking at the witches. We would have missed so much had we not stayed. We went there after eight o'clock so all of the shops were closed, I'll have to remember that next time so that we can get hot chocolate!

phone pictures from get-away

My children played at their cousin's grandma's house. There was a cover to a hot tub, they pulled it down and placed it from the edge of the hot tub to the ground and had a blast sliding down! There was also a barbie jeep that 2-3 children could fit in. They took turns driving it and had so much fun, even with all of their collisions. Man, their insurance would be through the roof if they were driving all ready. Inside of the house there was a black and decker tool table, the saw and the drill made real noises and moved like the real tools would. Kacen loved this, he found pieces of paper and put them under the drill and put holes in them. :)

Abbi loves playing with Gabe. He is her cousin that is just three months younger than she is and they have so fun playing and being co-conspirators. Alona loves to play with Legand and enjoyed playing video games, cars and other things with him while they were together. Today we played pin the tale on the donkey with them, it was fun. Kacen was the only one that I did not require to wear a blind fold. I told him to put it on the donkey's tale and the first time he put it under the head and the second try that he got he put it on the back foot.
While we were gone Alona lost her first tooth! I was reading to her and then the next thing that I knew her moth was bleeding and her tooth was missing. I thought that she had swallowed it, she told me that she thought it had fallen out. So I moved the couches and lo and behold a little baby tooth had fallen in between the couches. The tooth never wiggled, was never loose, it just fell out. Now her second tooth is getting ready to come out, and it wiggles, it wobbles, its stubborn, we KNOW its getting ready to come out. There is a picture of her with her first missing tooth. Her big tooth is already half way up and she still has fun playing with that hole thats not quite filled in all the way. She screams every time I ask her to move her loose tooth or when Mommy wants to move her tooth.
We went to a few of my nephews football games while we were down there. One of the games was in Kaysville. They had a real nice duck park. We had brought some animal crackers to snack on and the children wanted to feed something to the ducks. So they thought the crackers would be a good idea. And the ducks did, they ate both ziploc bags full of crackers and tolerated two young boys saturating them with gatorade. What nice and tolerant ducks.
We were at Val and Ruth's quite a few times while we were down there and one time we were chasing a grasshopper. He let me capture him on camera before hopping away exuberantly. I thought that these were good pictures. My children love bugs, insects and animals. They wanted to take him home in the car. Along the same lines we were looking through my grandparents garden and we found some snails. My grandmother let Alona bring the snail in and put it in a quart jar. The snail climbed the inside wall of the jar and ventured to the outer glass. Alona before we left asked if we could bring the snail home, I told her that Mom didn't want the snail wandering all over the van leaving a slimy trail behind him. She did not understand and kept on persisting. I do believe that she even named the snail, Slimy.

Before we left Kacen came up to me with a peach, her had also fond a toy saw and was saying, "Mom I cut, I cut the peach." He stood there, the peach in one hand, the saw in the other making saw noises in his own little voice as he cut this peach of which he proceeded to take a great big juicy bite.

Camera Pictures from our long break away from Provo

Alona's first day of Kindergarten in Ms. Erickson's class in Layton. She was a little bit scared at first, but warmed up quickly. She made many friends there and didn't want to leave. And frankly neither did I, all except for one big factor, Paul. He was supposed to have four months left, we went through two months with my sister but Paul no longer had two more months after the two that we had just done. He still has four more months. I just didn't think that I could do six months away from him, for personal reasons that you wouldn't think of, believe me. Alona had two other girls in the primary class there that were her same age, and there were three boys in that same class. Here in Provo, there is not a single child that is Alona's age. She is mixed in with two seven year old girls and a five year old boy.
Alona's first soccer game. She did awesome. She has gotten better each game with being involved and trying to go after the ball. My grandpa, Ruth and Val came to see her first game and Kacen demonstrated to my grandpa how he could suck on the cup and hold it in place. He thought that he was very funny and kept laughing every time that it would fall off. The uniforms in Roy are super cute, We have fun and there are still two games left!

Alona's birthday we went to Golden Corral with family, being that we had three birthdays in the family and my grandparent's forty ninth anniversary, and then we went to Layton Park and decorated a pavilion, fed the ducks while we waited for everyone to come and then opened presents and had cake and ice cream. Hannah Montana cake that Alona picked out. She was interested in Hannah Montana, so later that weekend we rented the video that she has out and the girls liked her music. Alona got a nice package of Polly pockets, a bike horn and a Hannah Montana microphone, oh and a book, "The Book of Mormon says".
The day before Alona's birthday we went to build a bear workshop for her present from Paul and I. She picked a monkey, he has a monkey sound and hello kitty pajamas and a sleeping beauty day time out fit with a crown and clear "glass" slippers with pink trim. After that we went out to SBarro's for pizza and went back to aunt Crystal's house and played at Vae View Park until bed time. Grandpa Bagley came on Alona's birthday and drew animals for her class, they had to guess what Grandpa was drawing before he finished. The first person to guess what he was drawing got to keep the picture. The kids were all so very excited, it was fun to watch them run up to their parents as they were being picked up and tell them all about it.

We seek after these things

"We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things." from the thirteenth article of faith.
Home schooling Alona was the length of three days. I bought curriculum, I prepared lessons, taught my children things that they could only learn in such a small setting. Wednesday Alona after doing really well with learning and listening was overly frustrated and having trouble with listening in a simple , I thought fun task. She expressed how this was no fun and she wanted to be with other children. She was not happy learning alone, but more so being alone without the other children her age. Paul talked to her, gave her a blessing and we went to the near by school where she saw the classroom and met the teacher. We agreed that she could go as long as she listened to Mom when she got home. Alona should be challenged, be able to learn, and I will provide things that the school is not. They will provide friends and play time with others her age.

When I was at my sister's getting ready to come home I was praying about where to put her and felt strongly to put her in Provost, an Elementary school down here . I wanted to put her in the other one if I would put her in to school. The spirit was not showing that what I wanted was best. I didn't listen the first few days and attempted to home school her, not a good choice. I wanted Farrer Elementary because I knew a few other moms who sent their children there, and Alona's best friend went there as well. We got home and her best friend and her family had vacated their home on orders from their Lanlord, so that he could move in his niece. Coming home, we found that the only other children around here (one family of two school children) went to Provost Elementary. The spirit really KNEW where Alona should go, I see that.
Now for how the article of faith applies to this"virtuous, lovely, good report, praiseworthy." These things fall under those words:
School makes her happy, it provides friends and play time.
Kacen and Abbi get more mommy time and more quality time for them to learn and grow
Mommy will be able to not be so stressed out or angry, trying to wrangle two children while teaching the third. The children will benefit from this also. My spirituality will benefit from this as well, I jumped at my two younger ones more while teaching Alona especially Abbi. I even spanked her one day when she wouldn't stop peeing her pants, this really effects Abbi and me, the guilt that I feel after spanking her is horrid and do not wish to endure that or have her be afraid. I can give her more of an enriching environment while Alona is at school.
I really wanted to home school, I love teaching Alona. I have loved teaching her the past six years. Alona can tell you what time it is, if the big hand is on the 12, She knows her letters, the sounds that they make, can read, she can do basic math, she can spell her own words by sounding them out, she knows the days of the week, she can say and writer up to 20, she is learning to count by tens and all about money. She knows much of the stories from the book of mormon, the prophets from there and some from the bible.
But now, I need to put that aside, let her go and grow up and have a part of her own life. I will teach her the things that the school will neglect this year that she has a desire to learn when she is home, and put the more part of my focus on enlightening my two younger children. They have SO much to learn!

New Addition

Sunday night after I got home, we search the classifieds to find her. We were searching for a free, female cat and we found an ad on ksl for five kittens and she was one of them. Alona on the way to Highland to go and get her wanted to name her Gilbert and Abbi wanted to name her Stripes. When they got to the house, I told them that if the black and white one was a girl that I wanted that one! And she was! So we named her Gibby, since Gilbert was a girl. Gilbert comes from the cartoon, Caillou. Abbi and Kacen were eating doritos the other day and then they started playing with the cat. Alona says, "Mom, they got cheeto spots on her." I told her that she came that way. I thought that was cute.
