If there was one thing I could change

About our house,
it would be the swamp cooler!

I went to bed late this morning, before heading to bed I had Kacen who had to get a drink and as he was going down the stairs he was saying how he didn't feel well. I laid him on the couch with a bowl just in case. I kept hearing drip.... drip....drip thinking that it was part of a dream or the nightmare that I was having. I woke less than an hour after laying down and went to look for the dripping, we had our swamp cooler leaking a few drops before, so that's what I figured this was.

I turn on the light and look and this time it wasn't just a little drip! It had torn the paint and damaged some of the wall and ceiling. Then going to living room, Kacen is not there, I figured he was better and had gone downstairs. He was getting sick in the bathroom downstairs and had all ready been sick in the living room while I was asleep.
Thankfully though I have a husband that was able to leave work when I got a hold of him. He came home I talked to him for a second and he shut the door to our bedroom that is right on the other side of the swamp cooler, who knew that was all I needed to fall asleep. He checked out the damage saw what was needed to be able to fix it and had it all done before I woke up again.
And Kacen has been feeling much better, yay for nights that turn around :D

A Little Boy's love

Kacen has grown to not be so afraid of picking up his lizard.
In fact he went from being afraid to pick him up to kissing him.
Yep he uses his lips and his nose.
He got his lizard Diego for his birthday,
I think he is in love, he always wants to pick him up
even if he has just put him away.

You say, Trick Or Treat and Trick or Treat

We would walk down from getting candy at a house and Jesse would say, "You Say, Trick or Treat and Trick or Treat!" He was telling us what you're suppose to say when you get to the door. He was so cute this year. He talked about everything, what he got, how many, adorable.

After putting on Abbi's class party, I picked up the girls and came home to get Paul and went to Paul's works annual Halloween trick-or-treating. It is always fun! Lots of candy and fun things like glow stick necklaces and all of the adults are dressed up! We went up to one of Paul's co-workers and I was trying to get Jesse to say trick-or-treat, and he was like he's tickle me Elmo he can just giggle!
Abbi the good witch :)
Spider-girl (Alona) found the perfect backdrop!

We went Trick or treating with my cousin and her children. They were all so cute. Justin and Kacen were the best of buds, putting their arms around each other and playing as we were walking along going to houses.
Our first house had Thriller playing outside, all the kids were coming down the stairs dancing to the music. Alona was in love with this, she had it as her end of year dance last year in school. She lit up when she heard that and went to town dancing. Elmo getting cracker jacks and fruit snacks from our second house!

Reptilian Birthday

Kacen turned 5!
For months and months he has been asking for a REAL Lizard for his birthday.
So while I went and got stitches in Jesse's head, Paul went with Kacen to get a Real Lizard.
They ended up getting a bearded dragon. So when I went to the store to get a pinata and cupcakes I was happily surprised to find a T-Rex Pinata, which of course dinosaurs are just big lizards. And cupcakes with dinosaur rings on them! The kids had a blast hitting the Pinata, pretty sure our friend Archer was the one that broke it open, he has an awesome arm on him!
I went to turn on the camera while we were singing Happy Birthday
and by the time that it was ready (we weren't even halfway through the song)
Kacen had the candles all ready blown out.
Happy Birthday to one Happy Frosting covered boy!

Jesse's first... stitches!

Not exactly how we had planned to start out Kacen's fifth birthday. We stayed out late and so we woke up later than usual, I started chores and gave the kids baths so that we wouldn't have to do that at the end of the day and we could just do fun birthday things. So the boys were done bathing, Jesse was dressed(his pants were a little long), I had gotten Abbi in the tub and Jesse had decided to follow Paul down the stairs and tripped over his pants, down the stairs and in to the shoe shelf at the bottom.
Paul reacted well, picked Jesse up took him to the bathroom and applied pressure to the wound. Taped it up and then headed to instacare, glad to have an alternative to the ER on a Saturday afternoon. they warned me first thing after seeing the Dr. that they do not use sedation and I might have to go to the ER if he couldn't hold still. It was not a pretty wound, the doctor thought that he might need to do two layers of stitches and was playing inside of Jesse's head before stitching it and pointing out that he could see bone in there and tissue that might need to be sewn. Thankfully Jesse only needed one layer of stitches, though there are many stitches on the top layer.
Thank goodness that with the male nurse holding Jesse's head in place and me holding his hands and talking to him helping to stay calm, he was perfectly still (almost) the whole time.
He wiggled once or twice when the dr had thread hanging over in top Jesse's face while he was looping it in knots and tying it. Or when he was stitching it and accidentally caught a strand of Jesse's hair in the stitch than Jesse would whine and wiggle just a little. But a slight adjustment from the nurse and reassurance from mom, he was fine once again.
Hitting Pinatas and playing with friends at Kacen's birthday he was one super happy kid. Not even phased by the owie on his head!

breaking from the past

I was talking with someone and the topics of upbringings and childhood came up

Does not having parents guidance and input as a teenager and a crappy childhood give people an excuse to make bad choices as adults. Am I not the norm in thinking that the past is the past and we have to own up to what we do now no matter what has happened to us before? Just wondering others opinions on this..

Climate for Growth Preschool

Kacen started preschool yesterday

We had applied for Kacen to be in the title one preschool
at the Elementary school back in May.
The first week that the girls were in school he went in for testing,
the preschool was based on need, so if children were
handicapped or far behind their peers than they had
a good chance of being accepted in to the program.
Kacen took the test and knew almost everything
that they were asking him.
I didn't have much hope for him getting in there,
and when I went to check the class list of course his name was not there.

I have a friend that I met in Provo and now lives a few blocks away
she was saying how a lady from her ward
works at this preschool that she liked on facebook.
So I emailed them and checked in to it. For the area and what they
offer they are the cheapest,
they have field trips, have structured lessons and
a teacher that has a degree and also
taught preschool for over 15 years.
So the fact that she has it in her home didnt draw me away.
Kacen seemed to really like it, and I enjoyed the time with
just Jesse for a few hours yesterday.

Pay Day

One of the two best days of the month, the other one of course is the other pay day at the end of the month ;) For us pay day is really significant,
a few reasons why:
Picture Mount Everest size, but in laundry!
why, because we dont have laundry soap,
and have to wait for it till tomorrow!

Think of a deserted Island a 1800 sq ft deserted island
looks pretty right
but there are just four kids... and you
why, I have no gas and havent for the past week
Pay day=freedom!

Think of bills
bills that are due on the 5th
and you get paid on the sixth
yep those are two days late every time

And then there's this
PAYDAY's are Awesome!!

The last few days

We were invited to a baby shower on the 9th. I thought that I would make the most of it, and scheduled a time to go to the Sweet's Candy Company. The hair nets were the funniest thing, Abbi thought it was awesome and Jesse's kept falling over his eyes. It was too cute for words, wish I would've been able to have my camera, but no camera's allowed in the factory. Abbi was excited for days before the tour to have the samples. As we started on to the tour, Abbi kept asking, Mom when are they gonna give out samples? Luckily they got to those, a few times! Chocolate covered raspberry sticks, taffy and jelly beans were some of the delectable treats. I dont even like chocolate sticks and these were good, being warm from the factory probably helped.
We then went to Val and Ruth's where the kids helped Grandpa set up the tent where the kids would be sleeping. Alona was really good at hammering the stakes in there. Kacen was trying so hard, he kept hitting his fingers though and decided to give Mom his hammer to finish it off.
Jesse's way of helping. Climb in the tent container, tip over and then climb back in.
The boys stayed and Played with the adults and cousin Kellie. While I took the girls
to Brittney's baby shower. Abbi's highlight of the whole event, getting a ducky on the back of her plate and winning a candle. It was a great Open house, really cute, with lots of thought put in to it.
Kellie and Abbi watching Harry and the Hendersons on Grandpa's couch
The next day we all went to Cherry Hill
They have an awesome pirate ship
A fun play area for the kids
I got quite a few pictures of the end of our swimming adventure
Kacen and Jesse wanted Mommy to stay on the Lazy river for about the first hour and a half. They really liked it, they took turns riding with Grandpa and Mom and Kacen waited for the water to start squirting at him, it turns on every half hour to 40 min

When its important, you make it happen

I had so many road blocks come up while trying to make it to my brothers wedding. When I thought that I had fixed one, another one would come up. But in the end, I knew what was important and I was able to make it to my brothers wedding. At first I thought that with not having to pay a gas bill, that I would be able to afford it and go by myself, nope. So then I thought that I had enough gas in my car to ride up to my grandparents house and drive with them. But I had one too many people, so I tried to find someone to watch one of my kids so we could go, right before I found someone to take one (Alona) my great aunt died and I didnt think that my grandparents would want three kids spending the night with them in Idaho while they went to her funeral. See many roadblocks. But suffice to say, I made it, and I am so glad that I did! I think Chris was a little surprised when I called to ask him which church the wedding was at and he came to get me cause I was at the wrong one. There is a picture with my brother, Abbi and I before the ceremony started, the boys kept running off.

Abbi was so super excited that Roslyn was her new aunt. She kept wanting to go see her before the ceremony. And was enthralled that to get a picture hugging her afterwards. The luncheon was delicious and entertaining, they would kiss when the bells were rung that were on the tables. and I am excited that we were able to be a part of the Wedding pictures.

Staycation with Grandma, Bella and Papa

Dont know if anyone is reading my blog,
but I think these moments are important, so here it goes anyway.

We are so glad that Marta and Bella came to our house for a week long visit before they moved to Georgia. It was our first time having family stay more than one night and we loved it. We had dinner when they arrived here on Monday night. And then started planning our week once they got here.
First full day with them here,
we went to story time at the Provo library
Our Second full day of them being here, we took a trip to Carl's Junior and then went to the dollar theater to watch Rio, which just happened to be in 3D.

The glasses were pretty cool

The movie was about a captive blue macaw, that was brought to Brazil to be bred. He goes on some fun and exciting adventures, and discovers who he is and where he came from.

Then we went to the neighborhood potluck bbq for dinner. Everyone had baked fish (I traded my for chicken). And the kids played with the other kids in the quad.
The next day we went to the zoo, amazing Elephants.
Rio at the theater was a good activity to do the day before the zoo.
We went to the bird show and they blue and red macaw's flying
around. It was amazing to watch
photogenic Abbi
