Sun, Sun Mr. Golden Sun

Please shine down on me!

I have been having an awful time with stress lately. Which of course effects my children and i hate that. I read a paper that Paul had brought home from school awhile ago about type 2 stress with the effects and 101 ways to cope with it. It fit me so well.

Some of the ways that helped me:
  • Remember that stress is just an attitude!
  • Stop saying negative things to yourself (like today I called my butt fat, not nice.)
  • Simplify meal times
  • Practice breathing S-L-O-W-L-Y!
  • Develop your sense of humor
  • Maintain your weight
  • Exercise every day
  • Work at being cheerful and Optimistic (I love how it says to work on it!)
  • Talk Less and Listen More
  • Freely Praise Other people
  • Stop thinking tomorrow will be a better day
  • Do everything in moderation
Negative results of type II Stress (the ones which I was suffering from):
Irritability, Disorganization, Over indulging in food, Poor memory, Inability to concentrate, Migraine/tension headaches, Inability to make decisions, Over-reaction to mild work pressure

I have made a new resolve to be H-A-P-P-Y. And of course I will still have my moments, but I am working on it! Ever so intently, it is really easy to give in to stress with three kids and a house and trying to give them the best of life. But what really matters is that they have the best mother, which requires me to take more time for myself(physically, emotionally and spiritually), and less time on the house making sure that it is clean and tidy like it says "everything in moderation" even house cleaning! More time relaxing and playing with my children!

I plan to have more sun shiny days!

The Hunt is on!

EASTER PICTURES!

Preschool Easter Egg Hunt Tuesday April 3rd:

Day before Easter Saturday April 7th:
(at home)
cute little girls playing with their baskets, using them as hats.

At Provo's city easter egg hunt, they had face paintings!

Each of them got their faces painted! Kacen got a bunny rabbit with a crooked smile. Abbi a chick and Alona a rainbow.

Coloring eggs at home:

Abbi enjoyed dipping her whole hand in. Alona has a talent! At four years old she can make each half of the egg a different color.

Don't just do something, Stand there!

1.Abbi is potty trained! There is the occasional accident, but no more going poo in her pants like she was doing almost every time (not fun to cleanup). She lifted herself up onto the potty the other day while visiting relatives!

2.Kacen is in his six month clothes now. He is growing so fast! I put on his cute carpenters hat on that he first used in January and it now barely fits him, it was drowning him in January. I got out these cute 6-9 month stretchy waistband gray pants and they fit him! There is this cute horizontal striped shirt that I have been waiting to put on him and today I did(there is also a really cute blue one((the green one he is wearing friday, the blue one Saturday)), I have been waiting since his baby shower to put them on him). So cute!

3.We went to a Luau on Saturday! When we were finished Alona was so sad, Mom I wanted to dance more, she says! They let the little kids get up on stage and dance while the performers were getting ready, that led to trouble..little kids really wanted to get up there and dance while the show was going on. Abbi was one of those kids. Both girls wore grass skirts, Alona wore a bikini top and Abbi a flower in her hair. It was the outfits that they got from their grandparents when they went to Hawaii last year.

4. Friday my brother came down and stayed here overnight while my great aunt and uncle went down to Saint George. I really wanted to do something! So we got in the van and drove to Utah Lake. We got there and saw that it was $9.oo for a vehicle to drive past the gate, so we parked outside the gate and walked in. It was nice weather by our house, though right by the water the wind was a little much. I asked Alona when she was shivering and her nose was cold, "Are you cold?" "No" she said!Do you want to go back to the car? "No!" Moments later she was ready to go and we picked up our things. I walked back to the van and got it while they were waiting behind the bathrooms.
It was nice to not have to take them out to eat at a restaurant. They were happy with a Little Caesars five dollar pizza. But then with the Chinese place that we ordered from I felt like a chicken with my head cut off running around. I went to pick up the food and came home to notice that the schezwan chicken my brother ordered was not there. I had to drive back just to pick that up. The whole time I felt like I was racing against the clock, Kacen was at home sleeping and had been for more than an hour.

5. If you are wondering about the title of this post...we were watching Alice in Wonderland yesterday before Paul left for work and this is one phrase that caught on. When the white rabbit wanted Alice to go in and get his gloves that is what he said, "Don't just do something, Stand there!"Alona really enjoyed that video and seeing that anything can happen in your dreams.

Rub a dub dub

Heather finally was able to get in the tub! I spent all morning and almost all afternoon today taking care of my three finicky children. I fed them and bathed them, which took the first four hours of the morning from 5-9 a.m. then we ran Alona to preschool, got back and I was able to eat breakfast while Kacen was screaming and then I read books to Abbi while we fed Kacen. Then we were off to get Alona!
We spent at least thirty minutes cleaning, Alona would just wave the wash rag around the table as if that would clean it. It took me pointing things out to her to get the job done, but yeah eventually she will be really good at cleaning! I vacuumed and mopped, by that time Kacen was screaming hysterically and his dad came in the door. I fed Kacen again and read to the girls and then we had lunch and afterwards ran out the door to our appointment. We got back and Kacen was hungry again I fed him and then he was finally out, Abbi was asleep and I was able to get clean!

What a wonderful thing it is to be clean!! Did I mention it had been more than a couple of days since I have had this feeling! My children take a lot out of me! At night after they are all asleep aroung 10:30 or so, I am too tired to shower.

Day by Day

Abbi slept through the night last night in panties! I woke her up at 7 a.m. and she was dry!! Though she stayed up until 10:30 with me last night peeing about every 5 minutes. She has been potty trained during the day for almost a week! Now for conquering the nights!

Scary, scary I had to use the heimlich on my child, but thank goodness I knew it and thank goodness my child is okay.

Sugar makes me sick

okay so when there is sugar in my house, I eat it and then my tonsels get swollen and I am irritated by even the slightest sweet thing but I still eat sugar cause its there...vicious cycle. We have way too much easter candy!! I so wish I was able to post pictures, I do have them!!
We did three Easter Egg Hunts:
  1. A week ago today we went to Alona's preschool, the parents were informed to be polite and they were! Abbi picked up a straw that a little girl had dropped. The mother very calmly told her "its okay, let her have it." Abbi did not want my help, she knew where the eggs were and how to find them and pick them up though she did want me to go with her. Alona was great at being independent.
  2. Last Saturday I drug the children out to the park on Main Street in Provo. We played at the park, Alona and Abbi were so cute, they held hands while playing on the playground and were very nice to one another. We then went and got all of their faces painted, Abbi got a baby chick she even picked what she wanted. She was shown a posterboard and asked which one she wanted and she goes "ahhh... a this one" so darn cute. Alona wanted the rainbow, while talking on the phone later that day to her grandmother she just splurts out what colors were in her rainbow even though she never even glanced at it in a mirror. Kacen had a bunny an his cheek, which looked as though it had three eyeballs and a smeared horse shoe for a smile. We (Me and Alona) were brave, I left her at the 4-6 year old group to do the easter egg hunt by herself. I kept looking over at her before it started just hoping that she would do okay and the other kids wouldn't trample her. Abbi once again surprised me, when they told us to go she lead me where she wanted to go. She didn't want to get the wonka chocolate bar she wanted the chocolate bunny and the chocolate bunny sucker and then she kept picking up eggs all on her own. She was content with putting just a few eggs in her basket. The limit was five eggs per child and Abbi just walked away from a pile of eggs, she had had her fill. Alona surpassed all my wildest imaginations of what she could do! She came away with a huge basket full of eggs and a candy stick. Though she didn't know that she was only supposed to get five eggs! :) Sad, sad the easter bunny had left by the time that we were finished, no pictures with him this year :(
  3. After church I went out and hid the eggs while the girls were eating lunch and Kacen was being fed by his daddy. I would have been too overwhelmed trying to fit in the easter egg hunt, getting them dressed and ready for church and there by nine in the morning, and all by myself so we waited until after church. Paul had stayed up until five in the morning doing homework. Paul was helping Alona, I remember looking over at them and Paul was trying to get her to look in the grass by her feet and she said, where I don't see any, as she is staring at the shed. Alona is so funny, she doesn't over eat or over-indulge in sugar. She gets her basket down and eats about two pieces and says, do you think I've had enough? I ask her what she thinks...She says "I think I've had enough chocolate." When her eggs were all dumped out she says, "I have too much candy!" Some of the cute phrases from Abbi...When she would find an egg, she would say, "I win!" then she would say, "More, let's get some more!" There were so many cute things that both of them said!! Kacen got a sun hat and a little bunny. Alona looked in the refrigerator after we had woke up on Sunday morning and said Mom, the Easter bunny hasn't come yet! Then when we got home she asked if she could look in the fridge to see if the easter bunny had come!

Thats life

  • I put Kacen down today on his back because he had just eaten. The pressure on his tummy after eating, not good. I went to the kitchen to finish dinner, finally! He had been screaming all day and refusing to take a nap though he was soo tired. I am making dinner and I hear him screaming ferociously, I go in the living room to look and he is about two feet from where he was put and he was on his tummy! Then I put him down just a minute ago, on his back and once again he is on his tummy. Not pleasant he had peaches all over his clothes and now that is on his blanket.
  • I read a book, called Crossroads. Oh wait, I read a book!! I was very surprised that I actually finished a book and in less than a month! Definetly an lds read, though others could enjoy it. I am looking forward to reading more books!
  • Our car failed emmisions/Inspections for the first time in four years.
  • Kacen only takes more than a twenty minute nap about twice a week. Sunday night he screamed almost all the way home from Lake Point. Me Eating food does not make him stop screaming, Surprise, Surprise!
  • Easter is this Sunday! For the first time ever I will attempt some kind of an Easter dinner. Wish me luck! Got any ideas of what you think is good for Easter Dinner?
  • Yesterday Kacen woke up at 5 a.m. and that day he actually took a nap. So wonderful, I was actually able to exercise!(And have a little sanity!)
  • Abbi wore no diaper or pull up yesterday or panties :) She does best with just pants. She even went to the bathroom at the park! She was willing to go pee on the grass. She said she had to go many times. The bathrooms are still locked.
  • At the parts store on Sunday, Alona read, O-p-e-n, S-e-v-e-n, D-a-y-s, and asked "what does that say?"!!!! She is so close to reading!!
  • I got a notice from the library today two of the books that I returned are late??!! This happens with every library that we go to. One reason that I like to buy books instead. Can't get charged late fees!! And then be billed for the entire book!
