Recovery

Paul went in for surgery on Tuesday, he was great about the whole thing. I was able to be with him while we waited for him to go in. It was quite a wait, I was so glad to have Ruth there to entertain Kacen while I was with Paul, though I kept checking back on them in the waiting room every so often to make sure he wasn't screaming and or hungry. When Paul had finally been rolled into the operating room, I went to go to Kacen and miracle of miracles...Grandma had gotten him to sleep.
All can assume that the surgery went well, the doctor came out and talked to me when they were finished. The most important thing that he said was that "it looked much better in there than it did in my office." Paul just goes back in next week to see the results of the biopsy. He woke up and then came in to the room we were in before he went into surgery. He was in the most pain I've ever seen him in. Not just whining and not wanting to get up and do anything, he was extremely ornery and raising his voice when he kept saying it hurt and clenching his fists and all of his muscles were tightened, which he usually just laughs when things hurt so he was really hurting. They took out what was hurting him and after it stopped burning it was much better. Though he was still in much pain and for the past few days he has been home, but he has been lying on the floor with a heating pad and pillows his laptop in hand and no desire to get up and move much unless his pain pills are really working.

Paul is having surgery tomorrow, he's not scared, I am! And he has to take a few days unpaid, not so fun. Instacare thought he was just dehydrated when we went in on Fathers Day, he was still hurting on Tuesday so we took him to the ER, they did a catscan and pumped him full of liquids and pain killers and found that he had something there, they sent him to a urologist last Thursday and they did a cystoscopy and found what they think are tumors and so he goes in tomorrow to have surgery.

Bear Lake went alright. Okay maybe more than alright, Paul has been with us for almost a week, I was so much more sane!! All of us except for the baby got burnt, and yes we all wore sunscreen! We went and played at the beach, Kacen really enjoyed his handfuls of sand that Im sure tasted wonderfully! Alona collected seashells and Abbi played with our sand toys, eventually she warmed up to the water. Alona and me ventured out until the water was halfway up her thighs. A little boy borrowed one of our buckets and caught two little fish in them. We enjoyed hobo dinners and smores with our camp fire and the girls wouldn't go and play in the trees and weeds..."it is too poky", Alona said when I asked her to go play. We got there late Thursday and left at lunch time on Saturday, most of the time Paul wasn't feeling so well.

Kacen still has a double ear infection, he screams and is quite ornery with me. He is eight months old and still does not sleep through the night. He seems to be my most difficult baby so far, or maybe that because I am doing this one with so much less help.

Splashing up a storm

Abbi phrases for the week:
  • I Want Some!
  • Not Yet!
Kacen accomplishments...
  1. Standing up in bed
  2. pulling himself up to things and into things
  3. eating more finger foods, soft fruits, cooked peas and carrots, more crackers, meatloaf
Since Alona finished swimming lessons last week her and her sister now enjoy sticking their mouths underwater and blowing bubbles. Just their mouths, they are afraid of putting their whole heads in. Last night we had family home evening and Paul filled up the pool, he added plenty of hot water to make it warm. Alona went to stick her mouth in and blow and water got up her nose, that was traumatic. Abbi was so excited about the water, she jumped in before the lesson and didn't want to come out, she really loved to splash up a storm.
We ran around a lot yesterday with Paul home...the library, post office, WIC Appt, preschool (yeah Alona went back this week) and we did some much needed cleaning around the house and in the van. The preschool is having a bbq on Friday that is for the whole family.
Father's Day is Sunday, We will be going up to Paul's grandparents where his dad will be.

And next week we go to Bear Lake! I have six days to get everything ready!

delightful

I had a delightful night.
I am thankful/grateful for:
  • I went to enrichment and didn't have to drag all three of my children.
  • Laura knows someone in Provo
  • Emily came and watched my daughters
  • Emily was a delight, meeting her sister was wonderful, she has such a warmth about her, they both do.
  • Made me very grateful for Emily realizing that I didn't have to be in the nursery watching my own children!
  • Abbi and Alona really enjoyed being with them.
  • Alona "braved" her cold swimming lessons!, We even decided that she would be brave, we were in the van getting ready to go into the 50 degree chill and I asked her if she was going to be brave, yep I'm gonna be brave she says!
  • Alona does ask me lots of questions, yes I get irritated at times. But I am afraid, when she gets to being a teenager who will she go to then. Hope I can keep her flowing with answers and trust.
  • Abbi was excited to go to the bathroom today, many times. 5 or 6 times during Alona's swimming lessons. So Abbi was entertaining herself!
  • Alona took her first shower, she was afraid to get her face or head in the water for that matter. But she really enjoyed getting warm after being chilly from the cold air. She thought the pool was warm.
  • Abbi learns something new everyday, like how to push the button on an air dryer, we were drying Alona after her shower from swimming lessons and Abbi got her own air dryer would push the button and jump back, she didn't want her face to be blown on and then she would turn around and put the back of her head under the dryer.
  • Abbi was happy when I got home! Before I left she was hysterical, no nap today.
  • Abbi wants to spend time with me
  • I stay home with my children
  • I love them
  • that Kacen doesn't walk Yet. He can crawl now, he sure liked the white crayon he ate today!
  • That we could make stain glass from melted crayons and wax paper today. they picked a shape, we traced it and cut it out. Melted crayons inside of wax paper and stapled our wax paper to the inside of our shape and put it to the window to let the light through. Abbi started singing "How I wonder", because of course she picked a star.
  • I can try to be happy
  • Abbi wants to be held
  • I have a husband who is home at least an hour a day, while we are awake (at the moment)
  • He helps around the house when I ask!
