Kacen

I was able to go and visit my extended family on Saturday. I took the girls down to Roy and we went out to lunch with my grandmother, aunts, uncle and cousins. We saw Val and Ruth next and they helped me with the car dilemma. Paul asked ME to balance the tires when I left him that day. Wal-Mart refused to do them where I was, even though I had life time balancing....they said that I had to go to the location that I purchased it from. So I went to Les Schwab and had it done for free. They found that the front right tire needed to be replaced and the front left had separation. So after getting the tires balanced the car drove worse than it did before hand. Now it was veering to the right and vibrating like no other. So after dinner at Val and Ruth's house they went with me to Wal-Mart and got them to replace the front right tire and they were convinced that there was nothing wrong with the other tire. Paul says there is something wrong with it. We changed the girls into pajamas in the wal-mart bathroom and brushed their teeth. Abbi and Alona got new trick-or-treat containers. Abbi got an Elmo bucket and Alona got a black cauldron.
After the tires were done we went outside. When I gave Val a hug I could feel a contraction coming on. I didn't think much of it...I got into the car and started our 80 mile ride home. The contractions continued all the way home. I called Marta while in the car and asked her if she could call Cottonwood Hospital and ask them which Doctor was on call. She replied that she was in the car and couldn't, she then asked if I was in labor. My reply, maybe. I also called Ruth and had her on standby, Paul called and told her that she could sleep a little after ten and then at one we woke her up again. I called Paul about 15 minutes before getting home and he met me there. Almost as soon as I got out of the car and started walking around the contractions stopped. I apologized to Paul for making him come home from work, I felt so stupid. Paul had said how having the baby this weekend would be great, he is supposed to start school again on the 30th and wouldn't be able to take off and stay home. So I decided that we would do something to start up the contractions again, and it worked!
So two hours after the contractions had started up again we headed for the hospital at midnight. I walked in to labor and delivery and to my surprise the doctor that was waiting there "catching up on Jennifer Anniston"(he was reading a magazine) was my O.B. What luck! I was not wanting to deliver on a weekend not knowing who was on call. I was at five centimeters, and they admitted me. Abbi wanted "up", she wanted me to hold her while I was sitting on the bed, it was cute. Ruth came and picked up the girls from the hospital at One a.m. they were both awake. Abbi had woken up before we left for the hospital and stayed awake even after getting to her grandma's house. I thought that it would be nice. Marta had watched Alona last time that I had a baby, so this time I thought that Ruth could watch them and Marta could come to the hospital if she wanted to. They had both volunteered to watch the girls and I never told them what I was doing, they both thought that they were watching them, oops! I thought that they would be happy.
About an hour and a half later I was at six centimeters. I knew that if I wanted this thing to progress I would have to have my water broken. I called my sister first to see if she was coming to the delivery room, and nope she wasn't able to make it either. So my water was broken at 2:44 a.m. I then went into the tub, sat on my knees with my hands holding onto the bar in front of me to brace myself for the contractions and Paul sprayed water on my back where the tailbone is. That was the only way that felt good in the tub, lying down did not feel good at all. I got out of the tub and contractions started coming even stronger, I had to lean into Paul while standing and hold onto him. It felt as though I couldn't grab onto him tight enough, I kept grabbing all over, we went and got the nurse and asked her to check me. About half an hour after getting my water broken I was at 8 centimeters. And then after continuing effective contractions and feeling as though I needed to go to the bathroom and nothing happening she came in and asked if I was feeling any pressure, I replied I don't know. But I told her about needing to go to the bathroom. Then my contractions kept getting harder to tolerate I was screaming and finding it hard to move. She asked me to get up on the bed so that she could check me. And I was at a TEN, less than five minutes after being at Eight! Then the urge to PUSH was there, and she told me DON'T PUSH! What, don't push! Boy do I wish that she had been joking that was way to hard to attempt to breathe through and not push it out. And to breathe I didn't think that I would be able to, I think that I even told them that "I can't". The doctor came in after three contractions with the urge to push, and they words okay you can push now. He reminded me to push...."I AM". It took maybe three or four pushes with the contractions and the baby's head was out. The head of course was more noticeable then the shoulders and I couldn't even really feel the body. The placenta was nothing, after me it came out with ease. I went all natural, no medication at all, no episiotomy this time! My first one without it. And I only needed one little stitch.
Paul was a great support, He told me that I could do this. I needed to keep hearing that I told him. He never left me while having contractions and helped me to get through all of them.
Kacen Aaron Bagley was born at 3:34 a.m. on Sunday October 22, 2006. He weighed 8 lbs. 5 oz and was 20 inches long. His head was 35.5 centimeters and he has hair! more than Abbi, less than Alona but it is dark. He eats okay, there is more sleeping than eating going on though. His awake pattern is frustrating, he is awake from 8 p.m. until 2 a.m. We only have medicaid at the moment, and they do not cover circumcisions, because it is cosmetic. So we have to go see a pediatrician and pay $240 up front to get it done. That is a little stressful.
Marta came to the hospital about 15 minutes after he was born and Kelly came a little after five. We they all went to give him a bath, and I came in after and rubbed him down with lotion and combed his hair.
Ruth brought the girls to visit at the hospital yesterday at about three. Alona was happy and excited, Abbi was so excited about the baby and kept repeating the word. Though Abbi wouldn't come near me. Alona was about the same after Abbi was born though it just must be that age group.

The clothes that we brought with us said 0-3 mos. I put them on him and they drown him so bad. When we got home I put a premie outfit on him and that was still too big.
Our visitors while in the hospital: Crystal (my sister), Sue Chance, Melanie and Bruce (Papa Kelly's sister) and of course Papa, Grandma Wood, Grandma Ruthie and Kacen's big sisters.

Yay for Kacen being born! I'm surprised that 0-3 were too big on him since he's such a big boy! My favorite picture is of Abbi, Alona, Paul, and Kacen. Did you take that one? You have such a cute family!
