Friday we had family night. The girls and Paul went to the dollar store and they got to pick out candy for a treat, Alona picked ring pops. They all enjoyed these. Abbi enjoyed her tongue changing colors and Alona was disappointed that her color of ring pop would not change her tongue. It just wasn't a dark enough color. Kacen was silly, as you can see we got a fun picture of him. Paul was in charge of the whole lesson and he did a great job!
Friday was a nice warm day, Paul went to the car wash and shined up the car. I was able to take a nap that my body so needed. I had stayed up the night before, started and finished a book. It is called Tangled Roots by G.G. Vandagriff. The book was a mystery that involved doing genealogy, research and genograms to solve family problems, I thoroughly enjoyed it and then I found out after I read the book that this is the third book in the series, I missed the other two.
Here is a brief synopsis:
Professional genealogist Alexandra Campbell and her sidekick, Briggie, may regret their new assignment for RootSearch, Inc. Asked to research not only a family tree but its psychological overtones, they uncover an old murder that someone is anxious to keep secret. Why? The murderer couldn't possibly be alive. So what is everyone afraid of? Searching for answers, the genealogy sleuths discover more than one surprising detour in the family line of steel magnate William Williams. When another murder occurs, they realize the motive must lie somewhere in the increasingly complicated family tree. Can it tell them the name of the killer? Though struggling with serious matters of the heart, Alex must focus on her work or risk becoming the next victim.
I borrowed another book from the library yesterday, I will see how it goes, It is a book that was recommended to me, I thought that it was a mystery like the last one that I read. Come to find out that it is a romance but it is written by an lds author so it shouldn't delve too deep into describing scenes of intimacy.
Sunday we went to Grandma's to wish both uncles a belated happy birthday and mainly visit with family which we always enjoy. Kacen kept me on my toes, following him around the house making sure that he didn't slip and fall down the stairs and that he didn't get into things he shouldn't be. Grandma has a new box of chickens, they all enjoyed watching them. Kacen wasn't as passive as the girls, they would sit quietly next to the baby chicks. Kacen would come running in and yell..."QUACK!" He was convinced that these small animals were ducks! I was only able to get one photo of the entire thing, my batteries died. Marta made the girls little dolls out of what look like clothes pins, how creative! The girls love everything that their grandmas do for them. We played Apples to Apples with Brandon, Tara, Andy, Luke, Julie and Kelly. Alona had fun for a little while. She didn't want mom explaining the cards, she wanted to pick her own. Which is fun, her cards didn't make any sense to what the theme of what we were doing at the time. And she won a few times too!
Kacen keeps expanding every day on the words that he says. Today(Wednesday) he said "socks" and "shoes" at our WIC appointment while getting him undressed. On Sunday when his Grandma told him that she loved him, he said "no" he had never said that before, and oh what the moment for it to come out. He also said "dirt" on Sunday while we were outside looking at the dirt in the pots.
We went on a walk Monday morning, Abbi held on to Cozy she was so happy her face was exuberant to be running with her. We saw two new baby lambs and played on a swing set and in the sand box. One of the lambs was caged in with the picanese dogs, the lamb would run and jump with them and jump on their backs, that was new to watch!
