So I am attempting to home school my daughter now that we are down in Provo. I don't have a lot of materials like schools do, I am starting small and can hopefully add to my curriculum as I go along. I know the basics of what she needs to learn still, I am just unaware of how to totally go about it, what sequence to teach things and how to make it all very fun. But I am trying it out, and will try not to be too critical of myself.
I have asked many people and looked through the internet to find as many resources as I could to home school. Home schooling can run in to the hundreds and beyond, I am looking for a great way to teach Alona without breaking the bank though. We went and got a new printer so that I can print things, I should get a calendar, probably the one from really good helper and would like to get the subscription to edhelper.com. There are many books that I could get, and I have found some books that I could order from ebay to supplement Alona's reading.

Hi Heather. I've been thinking about what advice I can give you for home schooling Alona but I wasn't sure what to say when I don't have any experience with home schooling. And I'm not sure exactly what you need help with. Is she starting K? My number one recommendation is to go uen.org and get really familiar with the core curriculum for her grade. Learn exactly what they want each student to know in that grade level. If there's and terms or concepts you don't understand look them up, or e-mail me and I'll explain. You could go to the BYU library in the basement. They have tons of books for teachers and you can copy worksheets and lessons out of them. You also can find lots of stuff online. Starfall.com is a good interactive website for reading practice, though I don't know that it has any lesson ideas. There's tons of homeschooling blogs.

You do a LOT better job teaching our daughter than any of the forced school garbage provided by our horrible Nation. I wish this were a truly free country but unfortunately majority of people we don't even know rule our lives. Thank you for caring, and the people who would try and force public school over home school to to be able to get a High School Diploma should have all their schooling credentials removed!
